 | From Brokerage to Integrated Financial Services
Doug Whitley Insurance Brokers began in 1949 as
a small general insurance brokerage in Trenton, Ontario - with
one employee and representing two insurance companies, Gore
Mutual and Wawanesa.
By the late 1960s, Whitley Insurance had become a thriving
brokerage with two partners, Doug Whitley and Neil Robertson, and
four employees. Further expansion followed with a move to larger
facilities in the Bank of Montreal's original premises - our head
office today.
We continued to grow in the Bay of Quinte area through the
1980s with a series of acquisitions:
Gliddon Insurance, Stirling - 1982
Livingstone Insurance, Madoc - 1987
Gainforth Insurance, Frankford - 1989
Allin Insurance, Belleville - 1990
Taras Insurance, Deseronto - 1991
Russell Insurance, Napanee - 1994.
In 1996, we introduced integrated financial services,
offering customers financial solutions that encompass insurance,
investments and banking. We also changed our name to Whitley
Financial Services in 2000.
Paul Whitley and sister Sandra Whitley-Russell now manage
the family business and continue to benefit from the wise counsel
of father, Doug. Although much has changed since the early days,
Whitley Financial Services remains committed to providing sound,
independent advice and personalized service.
